Enemy Concepts

Concept art serves as the first step in the design process for all of our custom enemies, characters, and environments alike.

Enemy Type: Ghoul (Rendition 1)

The ghoul is intended to be the most common enemy the player encounters in WE PREVAIL. It is be an agile but weak quadrupedal monster that hunts in packs and uses large, sharp claws made of bone that protrude from its limbs. The Ghoul was inspired by many horror monsters, such as the creature from Alien, the Demodogs from Stranger Things and the monsters from A Quiet Place.

After reviewing the first sets of drawings for the ghoul, we decided the design wasn't as scary as we wanted it to be; its small body shape made it look weak, its head shape and almost spherical head didn't look realistic for an animal, and its mouth somewhat looked like it was smiling at you (the developer name for the ghoul was lil' fella). In the second rendition,  the body became more muscular and the head and mouth were lengthened to appear scarier.
